I stumbled upon some fantastic news recently and so I wanted to share it with you all: for the first time, legislation to improve insurance coverage for people with alopecia areata has been introduced in Congress!
The bill, “HR 5936”, would require Medicaid to pay for one scalp prosthesis per year for those with the most serious forms of the disease.
But we need to be PRO-ACTIVE in order to get this bill enacted into law. So let’s work together to build support for the bill!
How? All you need to do is contact your Representative in Congress and urge him/her to co-sponsor HR 5936.
Why? Because by co-sponsoring the bill, a Representative shows his/her public support for it. The more co-sponsors, the more support a bill has in Congress, and so the greater the chance it will become law!
To make it even simpler, the National Alopecia Areata Foundation has pre-written your message! So all you need to do is copy/paste it and sign before emailing/mailing/faxing it to your Representative in Congress.
And to find the name and contact info of your Representative, you can visit house.gov and enter your zipcode+4 in the upper left corner.
